What is the Business Manager visa?

The Business Manager visa (経営管理ビザ) is a Japanese status of residence for foreign nationals who run or manage a business in Japan. Since the reform effective October 16, 2025, applicants must meet stricter standards: capital (total investment) of 30 million yen or more, at least one full-time employee, Japanese ability at JLPT N2 / CEFR B2, three years of management experience or a relevant master's degree, an expert-verified business plan, and independent office premises. Who is eligible for the Business Manager visa?

Under the 2025 reform you generally need capital of 30 million yen or more, at least one full-time employee, Japanese ability at N2/B2, three years of management experience or a relevant master's degree, an expert-verified business plan and independent office premises. How much capital do I need after the 2025 reform?
