Is the consultation free?
Yes. The first consultation is free, by phone, email, or online (Zoom), nationwide.
Do I really need 30 million yen in capital?
For new applications from October 16, 2025, 30 million yen or more is required in principle, and you must be able to explain the source of funds. See requirements and the 2025 reform for details.
Is a virtual office acceptable?
In principle no. An independent office where business can actually be conducted is required.
Who must meet the Japanese requirement?
Either the applicant or a full-time employee must meet N2 / CEFR B2 level.
How long does screening take?
Generally 1 to 3 months; the whole process from company formation is about 3 to 6 months. See the process for the full timeline.
What are the main requirements after the 2025 reform?
From October 16, 2025: 30 million yen or more in capital, at least one full-time employee, Japanese at N2 / CEFR B2 level (applicant or an employee), three years of management experience or a related master's degree, a business plan checked by a qualified expert, and an independent office. Full list on the requirements page.
Can I apply from overseas or without Japanese nationality?
Yes. Nationality is not a barrier, and many clients start while living abroad. The key is meeting the requirements and explaining the source of funds. We support consultations in English online, nationwide.
If I already hold the visa, am I affected by the new rules?
There is a three-year transition period until October 16, 2028 for people who held the status before the reform. At renewal you are expected to work toward the new standards, so it is best to prepare early. See the 2025 reform.
How much do your services cost?
Application support fees (before tax) start from 270,000 yen for certificate of eligibility, 250,000 yen for change of status, and 70,000 yen for renewal. Company formation is handled with a partner judicial scrivener; we provide a free quote in advance. See fees.
